When most people think of the word “science,” their mind pictures space, nature, and physics. Science has historically been linked to the study of nature and other things of that nature. However, science is actually a system of obtaining knowledge. Through observations and experiments, scientist are able to better understand our world and how different things work. This definition allows almost anything to be considered science, from engineering and physics to photography and music. These areas of “science,” while associated with science, are most commonly associated to their respective fields. On the other hand, many people associate science with science and technology. Technology and science have been linked ever since the development of technology became a large part of society. Science and technology are often mentioned together in the same sentence due to their association: much of technology would never have been invented if it weren’t for the scientific research and experiments used in development of said technology. As such, technology and science are bound by their definitions, as well as the nature of their being.
